SAXONY - GERMANY Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI)

Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) works as a German non-profit research institution in the Free State of Saxony and continues the long standing traditions of the Saxon textile research and textile industry. Process-related and product-related research work covers classical textile technologies as well as innovative technical solutions for a wide range of applications in nonwovens and Technical Textiles. More than 100 R&D projects on regional, national and trans-national level are carried out each year by motivated STFI staff of nearly 100 researcher, laboratory assistants and technicians. Since 1993 STFI has been dealing with European projects within the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th FP as well as the Phare programme. STFI experts are also working as evaluators for EU-projects.

STFI is member of TEXTRANET, the European Network of Research Organisations in textile and clothing branches. STFI experts are active in TEXTRANET working groups and support the development of the European Technology Platform (ETP) for the Future of Textile and Clothing. Furthermore, STFI is member of EDANA, the International Association Serving the Nonwovens and Related Industries and works in EDANA’s Technical Committee and the R&D group. STFI works closely with regional and national authorities together to promoting industrial R&D and recommend support programs for SMEs.

VĂSTRA GŎTALAND - SWEDEN IFP Research AB

IFP Research (The Swedish Institute for Fibre and Polymer Research) is a research and technology organisation covering the fields of fibres, nonwo­vens, textiles, plastics, rubber and fibres composites which is situated in Mölndal and Borås. IFP has a staff of 40 and its scientific and technical departments work together with 81 Member Companies in 12 R&D-programmes. Their mission is to provide technical know-how and services to industrial and other customers in and outside Sweden (1500 Commissions in 2006). IFP research’s activities include basic and applied research, contract research, testing and consultation. The work ranges from long term research to finding solutions to short term technical problems. IFP has been partner in nearly 20 projects within EU Framework Programmes and IFP research’s turnover in 2006 was 4.3 millions Euros.

IFP Research AB is a daugthercompany in the Swerea Research Group where Ireco Holding own 46% and the member industries own 54%. Ireco Holding is a holding company owned by the government. Typical cooperative partners within the InTechTex project are The School of Textile at University College of Borås, Proteko Education Centre in Borås, and SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden also located in Borås.

WEST MIDLANDS - UNITED KINGDOM Coventry Clothing Centre (CCC)
West Midlands/United Kingdom

Coventry Clothing Centre (CCC) is part of Coventry City Council, and was established in 1987 to provide a wide range of design, business and technical support services to all textile and clothing businesses in the area. CCC is a founder member of Midland Clothing Link and a key support organisation within the sub-region. CCC also works on AWM cluster projects within the West Midlands as well as being involved with the UK Technical Textiles Development Group. The Centre also acts as the coordinator for activities of the local manufacturers association and for the Coventry Clothing Partnership, which is a forum for support organisations in the sub-region. CCC will ensure a significant contribution to this trans-national partnership working.

TUSCANY - ITALY Sviluppo Italia Toscana S.C.p.A. (SVIT)

Sviluppo Italia Toscana (SVIT) is the regional company for Tuscany of Sviluppo Italia, the national governmental agency for enterprise and inward investment development. The second major shareholder of Sviluppo Italia Toscana is the Tuscany Region.
SVIT is a Business Centre with experience in regional innovation and regional strategies for the SMEs innovation support. Main experience is related to ERDF funds and the design of regional policies.
SVIT owns two incubators covering different activities fields from traditional sectors to agronomic science and biotechnologies. On behalf of the Tuscany Region SVIT is managing a further incubator and different measures of financing targeted to support the research and innovation projects. Thanks to the collaboration with the Tuscany Region, Sviluppo Italia is managing a co-founded early-stage fund investing in innovative enterprises.
SVIT is also active on the side of pre-incubation with an on-going project interesting the area of Pisa and involving the local authorities and the University. This project is dealing with the creation of a centre promoting and supervising the exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights.
The company has internal resources available for supply services and assistance to SMEs in order to give them access to the most important regional, national and community financing instruments for internationalization, quality certification, investments (in research, machinery and tools, premises, etc.) and collaboration with research centers and universities.

The staff of Sviluppo Italia Toscana has a consistent experience and an excellent knowledge of the management procedures for Community research projects or programs founded by national/local Government Institution as well.

SAXONY - GERMANY Innovation Netzwerk Textil e.V. (INNtex)

INNtex acts as an incubator and is active in innovation management related to textile and clothing industries. Main goal is innovation networking for the region of Saxony and stimulating & selection of R&D projects.
Main objectives of INNtex are support and promotion of science and research, training and education, art and culture especially in the field of development and manufacturing of textile products.
Saxon region has a long standing tradition in Technical Textiles. A new initiative for Technical Textiles under the leadership of INNtex was started to support the T/C-branches. INNtex coordinates several national projects, such as InnoRegio-project "Textile Region Middle Saxony", NEMO-projects (networking management and incubation East Germany): IMOTextil, TEBASTO and InnoStick, further projects like Malitec and Mobiltex. INNtex works as network manager and incubator for SMEs. The managing director of INNtex, Prof. Rudolph, is the Commissioner of Textiles in Free State of Saxony. INNtex is member of INNEUROTEX, the European platform in innovation.
